Norm's Story

This Story Started in 1952

Pictured is Jim Hermes with Norm Anderson in front of the house at 319 4th Ave NW in Forest Lake that the late Henry Hermes of the then Hermes & Hilton real estate had listed and sold to Norm in 1952 on Norm's return from the war in Korea. Norm had recently been married and this was their first home. Norm's wife Betty died of cancer a few years back but he still occupies the property. The purchase price in 1952 was $8,000

This home was built in 1898, and at the time of sale the senior Winnicks, Harry & Bessie, were the owners. Norm was working for Al Emert who was the owner of the Standard Station in Forest Lake, the present site of Blockbuster Video. The old Standard Station building is the present site of Z Pizza. Norm went on to work at Andersen Windows in Bayport, Minnesota, till his retirement a few years back.

The Hermes' are now in their third generation of real estate professionals. Sons Wade & Joe are now active with our family real estate business we call "Hermes MN." We are part of the RE/MAX International organization and associated with RE/MAX Results, with cooperating offices throughout the Twin Cities Metro and the state.
